John and Amy’s Anniversary
This weekend we welcomed back one of our happiest couples – John and Amy Grimmond.
They were married here on the 14th April 2011, and came back last weekend to spend their 5th wedding anniversary with us. (You might even recognise them from our website, the photos of their big day feature on our weddings page!)
The trip brought back a whole bunch of special memories for the Grimmonds, which our Duty Host June had the pleasure of hearing all about. And she’s decided to share the story with you…
It all started back in 2011 when John and Amy booked out the whole hotel, for their family and friends on their big day.
The Grimmonds were married in the lounge, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, with Loch Linnhe as the backdrop. There were a few surprises throughout the day. Amy organised for the piper to play the Star Wars theme as he piped them in which made Obi-John a very happy husband.
It was the friends and family’s turn for a surprise next – John and Amy booked an owl to fly in with the wedding rings and land on the best man’s arm. Unfortunately the owl got a bit of stage fright on the night, but the trainer’s back-up Harris Hawk, Cheddar, swooped in to save the day.
The wedding feast was held in the lounge where John and Amy remembered looking out to watch the sun set over the loch.
Of course we made sure that they stayed in the same room as they did on their special day, and they’re planning on joining us here for their tenth anniversary too!
